Taping for Brown Bags to Stardom

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday, April 17, 2010 I got right into action and taped an episode for Brown Bags to Stardom which is a local television show on OC16 that showcases local talent here in the island. From Music Video's to Talent Showcases Brown Bags to Stardom has shown Hawaii the special talent we have. I have been a host for about 3-4 months now and it's amazing. I love it! Which explains why I want to become a news anchor! It'll happen one day and this opportunity is great practice! Thank you Johnny Kai for offering me this great opportunity(:

Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii @ the State Legislature

Aloha Everyone,

On Friday, April 16, 2010 I had the honor to be present at the Hawaii State Capitol where myself, Mrs.Hawaii Internationl and other generous volunteers gathered to make awareness to our senators and represenatives that April is Prevent Child Abuse Month. We went from door to door and encouraged them to attend the Pin-Wheel Ceremony on Sunday, the 18th and show their support to making awareness about child abuse since it is a serious issue. Also to preserve our healthy start programs we have due to the budget cuts. I also had the honor in meeting and talking with our Lt. Governor, Duke Aiona.

Story Telling at the Kaimuki Library

Hello,

On Sunday, April 11, 2010 I had the honor to read to children for Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii. Kaimuki Library is the closest to my house so it was enjoyable to be able to be present. The kids were great, they were very attentive to storytelling and when it came time to crafts, they had creativity and a great imagination. I meet two little girls, who were very adorable and had great personalities. We were able to converse with one another and they spoke very well for their age. We also enjoyed creating our giraffes out of cardboard rolls.

See you all until the next apperance.

Teddy Bear Drive

Hello Everyone,

Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii had their 13th Annual Teddy Bear Round-Up and Family Resource Fair Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Pearlridge Shppping Center. This annual event is the state's highlight of the month-long series of events that highlight this issue. Child Abuse Prevention Month has been observed each April for over 25 years. More than 5,000 bears are needed for abused and neglected keiki. This year we fell short of our goal of 10,000. Last year we indeed met our goal of 10,000 stuff animals, can you imagine the look on a child face upon receiving a teddy bear.

The event had great entertainment from all ages, costume characters, and free parenting information pertaining to child abuse and tips. Also, KHON2's weather anchor, Justin Cruz hosted the event. They also mentioned that the first 500 families to make a teddy bear donation will receive a special gift & child-safety information.

Basically, the message to our children, we love you and that we will always be there with open arms and hugs.

Story Telling at Hickam Library

Aloha Everyone,
Sorry I haven't posted anything sooner. Just been busy with appearances and school-but it's great! On April 8, I read to children at the Hickam Library for Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii. The kids were adorable and the stories captured their attention. It was great to see the mother's being apart of storytime as well as one father that appeared with his daughter's. I enjoy the storytime because it's great to interact with the children and to create a bond between one another!

Father Daughter Dance at Pearl Harbor

Aloha Everyone,

On Saturday, April 3, I had the honor to appear at the Father Daughter Dance at Pearl Harbor! It was a great experience to be able to interact with the children and the fathers. We played games and we danced A LOT (: we danced to the Macarena, The Chicken Dance, Cupids Shuffle, Miley Cyrus, and High School Musical!!!

The Father daughter dance was just like a prom or a banquet! There was food and beverages, picture taking for memories, and the auditorium was decorated with streamers and a disco ball, there were also glow sticks for the little ones. It was great to see the bond between the fathers and daughters-having that bond is so lovely and should be cherished forever! And I'm actually surprised at how many fathers got up and danced with their daughters! That's such a special bond!

2010 Jr & Teen Hawaii World Photoshoot

Aloha Everyone,

On Saturday, April 3, there was a group photoshoot for the Jr & Teen Hawaii World Pageant at Nu'uanu Park. The theme was denim jeans and a white top. There are 10 Teens and 9 Jr Teens! They are all great and anyone of them would make a great Jr. & Teen Hawaii World! The state pageant is on May 9, Mother's Day at the Convention Center! Good Luck to all the contestants and make Hawaii proud at the 2010 Nationals!

If you are interested in attending the pageant, you may contact myself through email-cassie@missteenworld.us and I will make sure you get a ticket!

First Book Hawaii at The Hawaii State Library

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, April 3, I attended an event at the Hawaii State Library for Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii. Myself, Mrs. Vivian Aiona, and Mr. Wally Amos had the opportunity to read to child and promote awareness to their parents and guardians about reading to your children to create a stronger bond between one another to minimize child abuse. Saturday, April 3, was busy from morning to night but it was all worth it and I had a great time(: So parents take 5-10 minutes out of your day to read a story to your child, its a small task, but it will make a world of a difference!
